Madison Chain, May 13, 2007, by Brook Rodenbeck

The ABA tournament held on 5-13-07 on the Madison Chain was a good day of fishing . To bad there were so few people to show up. There were a total of 2 Boaters, and 2 non boaters. Other then the lack of entries the fish were bitting good, and the weater was a little rough but not enough to shut the fish down. The weather was steady rain fron take off in the AM , which was at 6AM and it did not let up till around 11:00am.
As for the fishing, all 4 people had there limits in the well by 12:00. The males were heavy in the guarding of the nests which for the most were in deeper water then the nests could been seen. Approx. 6-8 fow. But there were some good sized females around also, but not nearly as active.
As for my boat, myself and non boater caught approx 25-35 fish through out the morning I had a spot that has been active for the last 2 weeks, a small cove that the water temps were around 4-5 deg. Warmer. Between (64-66deg), and sheltered from the wind. All of our fish came on 4 different baits. For my selection I went with a "pink Belly" Brovarney 1/4oz swim jig. And a 6" Blue w/flecks YUM Dinnger (SENCO type Bait) Rigged texas style. My non boater was using 1 lure all day, which was a 5/16oz. TRU-TUNGSTON jig head and a 4" green pepper straight tailed worm.
So here is how the tournament ended up:
1st place @ 11.60lbs.(all LM) was Brian Hajewski (my Non Boater) From West Allis Wis.
